I'm just curious to know how all of you discovered Soldat and any first-time experiences you had when you first started playing.
I remember being on a quest for a free, multiplayer shooting game which required lots of teamwork, had lots of action and gore, and was generally fun to play. I had been searching far and wide for weeks until I fell upon the Soldat homepage. When I first started reading all the features on the site, I knew that this was the perfect game and had everything I wanted. I downloaded it (which took about 30-35 minutes on my sucky dial-up AOL connection) and was so excited to play.
AND THEN I REALIZED I COULDN'T EVEN PLAY IT OFFLINE... my computer was too crappy to even run Soldat. Yes, I played around with all the options but it didn't work with any combinations.
So I was stuck at the sidelines, observing the website, forums, and screenshots without even actually playing. I remember having access to my sister's boyfriend's laptop, downloading Soldat on it, then playing it for the very first time. It was so fun but I knew I wouldn't be able to play it for long.
Then came my new computer which I got about 2 or 3 years ago. I instantly knew that the first game which I was going to play on it was going to be Soldat. I installed Soldat once again and started up a quick-game of bots.
I played for probably about 12-15 hours straight XD
Now here I am... I have the ability to play online without any lag, I'm in a clan with great teammates, I'm registered thanks to a certain someone, and my computer can run Soldat ever-so smoothly.
Starting with nothing at first makes you cherish what you have now so much more.
...so there's my lifestory of Soldat.

Hmm... I go to a forum, www.narutorealm.com/forums, and a lot of people were talking about the game there. :] I saw the name Soldat at first and thought it would just be a weird RPG leveling up thing which I wasn't in the mood to play because I had just gotten deep into TankBall and was leaning towards playing Ragnarok again. Of course, this was when I had high-speed internet. A couple of months later, maybe May or beginning of June, a person was talking about a clan they had made on Soldat and I decided, since I was tired of TankBall and wasn't playing any other game at the moment, to download it and play it. I loved it instantly. <3 I started playing more and more and then wondered into the Elite servers. (Snipe and Slice, Explosives, etc.) I played Snipe and Slice the most til the end of June, probably a few hours a day, then I moved at the beginning of July. It took me two months to get internet again. For we had to buy a new computer, because the desktop was located upstairs and internet wasn't accessible upstairs yet, plus my mother wanted a laptop. : P Anyways, around August 14 (I remember because I just got internet again a few days before school started. >>) I had internet back and remembered Soldat. :] I downloaded it, took a hour and a half. Then played it. I co-co-founded a clan called SPT (Swift Paper Tigers) and was in that for about a week. Then my computer crashed and I had to re-download Soldat. It took three and a half hours that time. >>;; I played it again, and stayed in SPT for a little while longer. I even made its own proboards site. :] All by myself. You may check it out, if you wish. www.swiftpt.proboards98.comAfter a few days, no one was active and recruiting was going terribly, so I quit the clan. This was after I had noticed AimLords and was having my eye on trying to join it. I then went around asking if clans were recruiting, and fell upon TriGun who gave me the link to the main site of AimLords. :] Thus, I worked my way here. ~The End~ That is my whole Soldat history. : P

I know what you mean about clans going dead after a little while. I hate it when clans I'm in, and get so riled up about, go inactive. All my dedication to it and hopes of it growing instantly go down the drain.
And I never knew you had high-speed internet. You moved and couldn't get it anymore? That must have really put you down... I can't imagine having to go back to dial-up after all the benefits I've experienced from broadband :]

: P
I didn't have dial-up before, though. So I didn't expect it to be as slow as it is. XD So it was more of a letdown then I thought it would be. I was sort of skeptical to the fact that dial-up was slow. x] I've learned my mistake now. Anyways, once I go back to broadband, I'm probably going to be amazed at the speed for a couple of weeks and then after that I'll be like "WHY IS THIS SO SLOW!?!?". XD Of course, I'll try to retain the memory of dial-up and what slow is really like.

I have GameInformer to thank for introducing me to Soldat. It was in their issue with the article on "The 10 Best Games You've Never Heard Of".

Soldat definitely needs to be advertised more... it's such a great game which hasn't been too publicized yet.

Agree... most of ppl like weapon games but, they like these new games like counter strike, halflife (they arent new but, the graphic are "realistic") so they just say "i dont like the graphics" ..And that sucks. U cant say a game is bad just cause of the graphics

Saw it in a forum at XGenstudios, some people were talking about how they owned other noobs and stuff. I asked what Soldat was, they said it was a 2d scrolling shooter game and I thought it would be one of those other crap ones. But I checked it out and I loved the game simply because of its simplicity with graphics and the choice of weapons and stuff.

This is pretty much the main reason of why Soldat doesn't get as much publicity as it really should.

Yeah .. but anyways.. atleast this way u can be sure if someone is playing soldat, is cause he really likes it, and its not just cause he's bored

Hm, well I think soldat is the most skill based game I've ever seen... Maybe its because its so fast and its 1D... Other games that are 3D are really not that challenging because everything is at eye level... Thats just my opinion... and In some shooting games, the computer aims for u
